E’Body Have Mine ‘Teak!

I’m not getting any better at this am I? :o( Sorry …
Still going to the gym four times a week … get up at 5am and two days, go into work for an hour then go to the gym (on my personal trainer days) .. the other two, I go straight to the gym. Still having good results though so not about to give it up! The last couple of weeks we’ve started boxing too … wasn’t sure about boxing when she suggested it but I really enjoy it! Going to get a punch bag installed downstairs! Hmm wonder who’s photo I can put on it first :o) I can see this being a very effective stress management technique!!
Which brings me on nicely to work … much less stressful and all change (again!). Now not doing any programme management but managing some bigger projects. Still working in the web space but now also have a project in customer care and about to start one in billing! It’ll be nice to get back to doing something I know really well …. Although obviously NZ use a different billing system.
We went away for Easter last weekend … rented a bach in the hills in Coromandel … it was lovely. The weather was nice so managed to do some easter stuff … painted eggs (although Kyle really didn’t want to roll them down the hill for some reason) and did an easter egg hunt in the garden of the bach. It was so quiet up there that it was really relaxing .. especially when you take the hot tub on the deck overlooking the valley into account!
Visited a Goldmine in the nearest town … apparently Coromandel had a bit of a gold rush in it’s past. Which if you see it now seems very strange as it’s really laid back and quiet round there. There is a joke in Auckland that the whole population of the city goes to Coromandel on every public holiday weekend …. Going from the traffic jams on the way back … I’m not so sure it’s a joke. It’s a lovely place but not sure I would ever buy property there due to the traffic. It’s normal to own a bach here so we’ve started looking at where we would buy it when we get to the point that we could afford it …
Back to Auckland and it’s now the school holidays …. so Kyle is at holiday club (although he’s off to Caylen’s tomorrow) which he really enjoys. They go a trip once a week so on Wednesday past he went to the movies and this week he’s off to an amusement type park which I’ve never heard of!
Reggie’s still at nursery … her speech has improved so much since I last blogged although she’s now at the stage that she wants to say so much that she’s getting frustrated with herself for not being able to say what she wants to quick enough! A great example of what she’s coming out with just now ….
We were having tea …. Fillet steak, potatoes and veg ….. as usual, Reggie ate all the potatoes and veg and wasn’t really interested in the meat. Tried numerous time to get her to eat it and in the end gave up. We’d cut the steak up into little pieces for her so Bobby and I picked at what was left …. She turned around once it was all gone, looked up at us with those huge brown eyes .. which now had tears in them … and said
“E’body have mine ‘teak!”
How to make mum and dad feel very guilty in one small sentence! :o)
Next weekend will be our 2nd anniversary of arriving in NZ … so we’ll need to do something special to celebrate. In some ways it seems soooooooo much longer than that as everything down here just feels normal now. But on the other hand, is it really two years?? When I first arrived, I was talking to an english guy at work and he said that if you manage the first two years that you’ll probably never go back …. As most people who go back do so in the first two years. Well, looks like we made it!
Will try to do better at blogging ……
