Merry Christmas!

Dec 25, 2007 in New Zealand Actual

Been a while since I’ve posted as it’s been very busy … it’s been one of those times at work where everything that could have gone wrong did and I have a list of additional things waiting to go wrong when I get back! Still enjoying it though … it’s definitely a challenge!

Kyle and Regan had their first dip of the summer in the sea last weekend … it was really warm and they’ve both had their final top up jags, so put on their new swimmers and took them to the local beach for a while. Weather has been getting warmer over the last few weeks and now even when it’s raining, it’s really warm. We are so glad that we bought the heat pumps (air conditioners).

Christmas Day is now over … the kids seemed to enjoy it …. Kyle especially. They were both up at 6am although Kyle seemed to think that Santa hadn’t been since his parcels were in a sack next to the Christmas tree rather than under the tree (something to remember for next year). He was completely hyper while he was opening his presents and got really excited over most of them. Regan on the other hand was more interested in eating the Christmas paper than seeing what was inside! Once we’d removed the paper though she enjoyed playing with all her new toys.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t the best … bit of rain … so didn’t bother going to the beach or anything today. To be honest, we’ll be spending the next week and a bit at the beach when we’re on holiday so it’s probably best that we didn’t do that today as well. Looking forward to going away though as we all feel the need of a break. Will take the laptop with us but will be dependant on whether we get broadband on holiday as to whether you see any holiday photos before we get back.

The Santa Experience

Went to Dylan’s birthday party on Sunday of last week and turns out it was a barbie in their back garden. Met a few people, Kyle played with William (Dylan’s big brother who is in Kyle’s class at preschool) so it wasn’t a bad day. Regan was obviously exhausted though as she fell asleep in the car on the way home (about 5.30pm) and didn’t wake up until the next morning!

Also did some Christmas shopping … Kyle has decided he wants to be a surfie so bought him a wetsuit (yup a real one … he looked so cute and chuffed with himself, we couldn‘t resist!). We’ll buy him a boogie board to go with it and then he can take them both with us when we go away after Christmas.

Regan was 11 months yesterday and still isn’t walking! Every time we try to get her up on her feet (without the furniture for support) she plops herself down and crawls away. Kyle was walking by this point but I guess they are all different, aren’t they?

We had the nursery Christmas party on Wednesday night … it was kind of a picnic thing but inside because the weather was a bit yuck. We all took some food and ate it on the floor on a blanket then the teachers did a “thing”, the kids then sang some songs and Santa came to hand out the presents. It was a fun night … Kyle and Caylen were running about mad as usual and Regan’s face was a picture when she sat on Santa’s knee!

Job is still hectic so really looking forward to the holidays in two weeks. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen summer and I’d like to enjoy some of it!
